Summary (tl;dr)

Metallica has announced an extension of their M72 World Tour with new North American stadium dates scheduled for May and June 2027, following their Las Vegas residency, sparking significant online interest in "Metallica tour" and "Metallica tour 2027."

Essential Background

The iconic heavy metal band Metallica launched its extensive M72 World Tour in April 2023, having already performed 99 shows across 26 countries. Prior to the newly announced 2027 dates, the band is also slated for a "Life Burns Faster" residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, which is scheduled to run from October 1, 2026, through March 13, 2027.

The Full Story

On September 16, 2026, Metallica officially confirmed a new series of North American stadium dates for their M72 World Tour, extending the tour into 2027. This new leg of the tour will kick off on May 8, 2027, at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada, and will include stops in a dozen new cities across the American Southwest, Midwest, and East Coast, before concluding on June 19, 2027, at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah. Unlike previous "No Repeat Weekends," the 2027 dates will feature single shows in each city. Fan club presales for these highly anticipated shows will begin on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 10 a.m. local time, with additional presales throughout the week, leading to the general public onsale starting Friday, September 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. local time. Limp Bizkit and Avatar are confirmed as support acts for the 2027 North American leg.

Why It Matters

The announcement of extended tour dates into 2027, particularly in new North American cities, is generating considerable excitement among Metallica's global fanbase. Fans who may have missed earlier tour stops or are looking to experience the band's "in the round at the 50-yard line" stage setup are driving search trends for tickets and tour information. The continued demand for live music from established acts like Metallica underscores the enduring appeal of heavy metal and large-scale stadium tours.
