Essential Background

The Traitors is an Emmy-winning reality competition series that originated in the U.K. and gained significant popularity with its U.S. launch in 2023 on Peacock. The show brings together contestants, often celebrities, into a Scottish castle where they are secretly divided into "Faithfuls" and "Traitors." The Faithfuls must identify and banish the Traitors before they are "murdered" from the game, all while competing for a cash prize. The series is known for its psychological gameplay, deception, and dramatic eliminations. Peacock recently renewed the series for three more seasons and also launched a civilian-only spin-off called The Traitors: New Blood, which premiered this week.
