neutrogena recall

The recent trend in searches for "neutrogena recall" is due to a significant product recall initiated by Neutrogena. The company has voluntarily recalled its popular Makeup Remover Ultra-Soft Cleansing Towelettes after internal testing revealed the presence of a harmful bacterium called Pluralibacter gergoviae.

This specific bacterium, while generally not a severe threat to healthy individuals, can cause serious infections in people with compromised immune systems, chronic illnesses, or those undergoing surgical procedures. Potential health consequences include eye infections, urinary tract infections, respiratory distress, and sepsis.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified this as a Class II risk level recall, which is the second-highest category, meaning that use of the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote. The affected wipes were primarily distributed in Texas, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Consumers are being advised to stop using the recalled products and dispose of them safely. This event highlights the challenges brands face in maintaining product safety, especially for pre-moistened cosmetic items prone to microbial growth.
